Include Healthier Food Options to Lose Weight

It's fairly easy to follow a printed diet sheet that offers no or little selection of the foods you're allowed to eat, regardless of your own personal tastes and preferences. But what happens once you reach your target goal? After you've reached your target weight, don't you get bored eating the same foods day in and day out? Wouldn't it make better sense to just make better and healthier food choices allowing to a wide selection of foods, so you don't bore yourself to death with your diet. Here are a few things to consider when trying to include healthier food options to maintain your weight loss or to even lose more weight.
1) ADD HEALTHY VARIETY TO YOUR DIET You can eat a healthy, nutritious meal with a wide variety of different food options and combinations. You don't have to stick with one meal plan. It's a good idea to choose different naturally lower fat options in the various food groups to gain the different spectrum of nutrients typically found in each. For example, pork has more vitamin B than chicken, while beef typically contains more iron the fish. Some fruits have more vitamin C or E than others. So choosing from a wide selection of foods will ensure your getting the most nutrition from every meal.
2) ENSURE BALANCE IN YOUR MEALS Eating the same meal day in and day out might mean you're getting more of one particular substance, vitamin, or nutrient over another. Over time this may throw the body out of equilibrium and create problems if nutritional deficiencies. Plus, you're body will tell you because it is typically more satisfying to have a meal filled with a combination of meat, vegetable, fruit, grains, etc. If you ensure balance in your diet you'll stay satisfied longer. This will mean less binges (because your body is craving some type of nutrients it isn't getting) and more weight loss.
3) KEEP IT IN MODERATION Eat smaller more frequent meals to keep you satisfied longer. Doing this will stabilize your blood sugar levels and keep you from hunger induced binges. Aim for a least 5-6 smaller meals a day. This will keep your metabolism firing as well.
4) LEAN ON THESE SNACK IDEAS 5-6 meals a day will require some healthy snacks between meals. So instead of leaning on the high fat potato chips, try one of these snack ideas to curb your appetite: air popped popcorn, baked tortilla chips, baked pita wedges, cheerios, rice cakes, saltines, or zwieback crackers.
By learning to add variety, balance, moderation, and healthy snacking to your diet, you can ensure that you keep hunger induced binges to a minimum and lose weight while still eating healthy and nutritious food.
